EXAMS!

This week we will focus on exam review.  This exam is cumulative.  To prepare for this assessment you should use your notes, old test, notes, textbook and your old blog posts.  There are also powerpoints on the class website for all the chapters covered.  Also refer to the exam review sheet I emailed out last week.  There is also info on the exam format on this document.

Please use the comment section of this blog post to ask questions on exam content and review material.  I will make sure to look through your comments and answer all questions at least once a night.  Feel free to answer each others questions as well!

Good luck and happy studying!

  1. Since no one has ventured into this comment section, I will begin the dialogue by providing you with some extra exam info. The final has officially gone to the presses and the exact format is as follows:
    I. Multiple Choice (97!)
    II Fill in the Blanks
III. Short Answer (pick 6 out of 8)
    IV. Diagrams (2)
    V. Human Body (pick 9 out of 10)

    You will all survive.
    Any questions??

  2. Mrs. McCurdy, how in depth should we know things like glycolysis, the krebs cycle, and ETC? Should we be able to draw them out with all the labels, or should we just be able to understand what each one does and identify them?

  3. Mrs. McCurdy, will there be any compare and contrast components on the exam?

  4. Mrs. McCurdy, I'm a little bit confused on the Human Body section of the exam... What kinds of questions will you ask? (Short answer vs. long answer, etc) and how in depth should we know each system? (the posters all went pretty in depth and I'm not sure how much of it we need to know)

  5. Mrs. McCurdy, I'm confused on what we need to know about the cancer projects. Everyone did a different type of cancer, so are we supposed to know all about everyone's type of cancer? Or just basic facts on each cancer? Or just what it does to the cells in our body?

  6. Austin- In terms of photosynthesis and cellular respiration, you need to know the steps, where those respective steps take place, and inputs and outputs for those steps.

Nick, there may or may not be compare and contrast (I can't tell you) if there were any, they would be in the short answer section and you can skip them if you like as you have choice in that section

Megan, the human body section will be very straightforward. I will only ask for the basic information that you recorded on the sheet I supplied you with.

  7. Lucy, you do not need to know anything about other people's cancer projects. You simply need to know the fundamentals behind the cell cycle and how malfunctions in the cycle can result in cancerous tissue.

  8. Mrs McCurdy, will we need to know the specific examples of X and Y chromosome nondisjunction (Turner Syndrome, Laron Sydrome et cetera)?

  9. Mrs. McCurdy, will we need to know about the different types of cell junctions? If so, how in depth should we know them?

  10. mayze, you should know about nondisjunction and the effects of having an irregular number of x and y chromosomes.

sara- know that cell junctions exist and what general role they play. Don't waste your time on the specifics.

Hope all the studying is going well!

  13. My name is hoover, my 18 year old daughter, Tricia was diagnosed with herpes 3 years ago. Since then, we have moved from one hospital to another. We tried all kinds of pills, but every effort to get rid of the virus was futile. The bubbles continued to reappear after a few months. My daughter was using 200mg acyclovir pills. 2 tablets every 6 hours and 15g of fusitin cream. and H5 POT. Permanganate with water to be applied twice a day, but all still do not show results. So, I was on the internet a few months ago, to look for other ways to save my only son. Only then did I come across a comment about the herbal treatment of Dr Imoloa and decided to give it a try. I contacted him and he prepared some herbs and sent them, along with guidance on how to use them via the DHL courier service. my daughter used it as directed by dr imoloa and in less than 14 days, my daughter recovered her health.
